Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan prepare for the start of the OSCE Summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.  The Summit, the first in 11 years, provides an important forum for debate on current security-related challenges facing the OSCE's 56 Participating States and 12 Partners for Cooperation (Australia became a Partner for Cooperation in December 2009).  During the Summit, States will discuss ways in which the OSCE can bolster its contribution to the stability of Afghanistan.
