Visit by Bono, November 2010 - foreignminister
Anti-poverty campaigner Bono has congratulated Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and Australia for the bi-partisan support of the increase in the nation’s overseas development program. The renowned global ambassador for poverty reduction said Australians should be proud that their taxpayer dollars are saving human lives. Joined by the co-chairs of Make Poverty History, Tim Costello and Andrew Hewitt, the meeting focussed on the global development agenda, and in particular the need to improve maternal health and continue successes in combatting HIV/AIDS. The Foreign Minister also praised Bono for his efforts to reduce poverty through the NGOs which he co-founded, ONE and (RED). Photo by Marco Del Grande.
