Mid Cation: The Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP, visited the Australian Defence Force contingent currently deployed to Egypt on Operation MAZURKA as part of the Multi-National Force and Observers (MFO).

Mr Rudd met with members of the contingent during his visit and thanked them for their contribution to the MFO.

Operation MAZURKA comprises 25 Australian Defence Force personnel based in the MFO North Camp located in the Northern Sinai.

The mission of the MFO is to supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the 1979 Egyptian –Israeli Treaty of Peace and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of the terms
